Dave McCarty, NESN Boston Red Sox Studio Analyst

Athens, GA (Dec 5, 2007) - Dave McCarty is a studio analyst for Boston Red Sox coverage on NESN. This is his profile as published by the New England Sports Network (NESN).

Dave McCarty serves as a Red Sox studio analyst before and after select Boston Red Sox games on Olympia Sports presents The Boston Globe Pre-Game Show, NESN's one-hour pre-game show, and on the network's popular Red Sox post-game shows W.B. Mason Extra Innings and Granite City Electric Extra Innings Extra.

McCarty played 11 seasons in the major leagues and was and excellent defensive first baseman and outfielder for 7 different teams including parts of 3 seasons with the Boston Red Sox. The lefthander also appeared in 3 games as a pitcher with Boston in 2004. In May of 2005, McCarty was released by the Red Sox and decided to retire. Just over a month later, McCarty made his first of 3 guest appearances on NESN’s pre and post-game shows.

Originally from Houston, Texas, McCarty attended Stanford, University and earned a degree in economics. A first-team All-American in 1991, McCarty was named Baseball America’s College Player of the Year and was drafted in the first round, third overall by the Minnesota Twins.
