Athens, GA (Dec 5, 2007) - Eric Frede is a anchor/reporter for NESN. This is his profile as published by the New England Sports Network (NESN).

Eric Frede has served as a reporter, anchor, host and play-by-play announcer on NESN. He joined the network in December 2002 as a NESN SportsDesk anchor and field reporter for the network's Boston Red Sox coverage. The versatile announcer has also hosted NESN’s Red Sox and Bruins week-in-review programs, Bruins pre and post-game coverage and provided play-by-play for NESN’s college football and basketball telecasts. He currently serves as the play-by-play announcer for NESN University Football Saturday broadcasts.

Frede got his start in broadcasting at a small TV station in New York covering West Point sports, calling Marist College basketball games on the radio, and working as a production assistant at NBC Sports. He then moved on to become a sports reporter/anchor at a station in Bangor, Maine and then at WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Arriving in Boston in 1998, Frede served as host of Boston Celtics pre-game, post-game and magazine shows on Fox Sports Net New England, and has provided play-by-play for the New England Revolution, Boston Breakers, Hockey East coverage and America East basketball telecasts. Frede has also called sports nationally for WUSA, WNBA and SpeedChannel telecasts as well as the NCAA Men's hockey regionals and NCAA women's hockey championship.

Frede has received several honors and awards, including two New England Emmys in 2005 and the Edward R. Murrow Award for Sports Reporting.
