Mike Milbury serves as a Boston Bruins Studio Analyst on NESN during select Boston Bruins games. His duties include pre-game analysis on Face-Off, intermission commentary, and post-game analysis during the network's Boston Bruins post-game show Overtime.
Milbury’s studio analyst duties will be extended to other networks, including NBC, where he will serve as studio analyst for the NBC Sports’ “NHL Game of the Week.” He will also perform in the same role in Canada, appearing weekly on “NHL on TSN: Wednesday Night Hockey” program and frequently during the first rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
A 12-year NHL veteran, Milbury began his professional career with a two-year stint as a Rochester American of the AHL. The Brighton, Mass native spent the next 11 seasons as a defenseman for the Boston Bruins, playing in over 750 games. Retiring in ‘87, Milbury turned his focus to coaching, remaining in the organization as head coach of the AHL’s Maine Mariners, followed by two years as head coach of the Bruins, leading Boston to the Stanley Cup Finals in his rookie season. In 1995 he was hired by the New York Islanders organization where he served 11 years as general manager, as well as 3 stints as head coach. Milbury spent his last season 2006-2007 as Senior Vice President of the organization.
Milbury’s broadcast experience includes stints as a weekend sports anchor with SportsChannel New England, while he was a Bruins player and as an ESPN analyst during the 1994-95 NHL lockout.
