Talent Profile: Thom Brennaman, Play-By-Play Announcer, Big Ten Network

Athens, GA (Dec 9, 2007) - Thom Brennaman is the lead play-by-play announcer for The Big Ten Network. This is his profile as published by The Big Ten Network.

Thom Brennaman was named lead play-by-play announcer for Big Ten Network football broadcasts in July, 2007. Brennaman’s called the first game on the Big Ten Network, the historic Appalachian State-Michigan game called by some as the greatest upset in college football history.

Brennaman also serves as a play-by-play announcer for selected Big Ten Network men’s basketball games and as the narrator for the network series THE BIG TEN’S GREATEST GAMES.

Brennaman’s football resume includes calling the 2007 BCS National Championship game, 2007 Tositos Fiesta Bowl and the National Football League for FOX Sports.

Brennaman joined FOX Sports at its inception in 1994 and served as a play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball. His MLB experience includes regular-season, Division, and League Championship Series games for FOX Sports. Brennaman’s professional credits also include serving as the first television voice for the Arizona Diamondbacks (1998-2006), the Chicago Cubs (1990-1995) and he also calls Cincinnati Reds games with his father, Marty, a 2000 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee.

The Ohio-raised Brennaman partners with Charles Davis to comprise the network’s lead football announce team. He resides in Phoenix with his wife Polly and their two children.
