The 2008 NFL Broadcast Assignments for Week 1 of the 2008 Season

Athens, GA (Sept 4, 2008) - The first week of NFL action is here. Fox has the Sunday doubleheader, so CBS games will all be at 1:00 PM et. As expected, CBS is sending their "A" team to Miami for the Jets debut of Brett Favre. Interestingly, according to the Fox news release, the Carolina Panthers game will NOT be broadcast in the Charlotte market. Either that is a typographical error on their part or a head scratcher.

Update: Fox Sports has confirmed the error on the Charlotte market. They have to receive the game when the Panthers are on the road. So for the nest look at the Fox markets, see The 506 for broadcast maps of the Fox early and late games. Also, the Falcons did not sell out, so they will be blacked out locally for the 3rd time since last season and for the second consecutive home game.

Update #2 (9/5/2008): WXIA (NBC affiliate), WATL (myNetworkTV affiliate) and Comcast purchased the remaining Atlanta Falcons tickets for distribution to the American Red Cross and the Boy's and Girls Clubs to prevent the second consecutive home game blackout for the team. See the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for more details. Also, Fox media relations sent us an email this morning acknowledging they had a "brain cramp" in the regionalization in their original press release. Hey, we all have them from time to time. Corrected regionalization for the 4:oo PM games are updated below.
