The 2008 NFL Broadcast Assignments for Week 10

Athens, GA (Nov 7, 2008) -Now that Bryant Gumbel has been replaced at the NFL Network by Bob Papa, it is indeed possible that the game productions of the NFL Network might be the new standard for production quality. Only time will tell, but the game last night was so much more watchable with Papa in the play-by-play seat.

Meanwhile, the double-header this weekend goes back to CBS Sports. But with the NFL Network taking away the Broncos-Browns match-up this week, CBS will only have 6 crews working this weekend. The folks over at Fox Sports are settling into a more stable game assignment pattern with the World Series finishing oh so long ago.

In human interest news, former CBS Sports staffer and NASCAR on FOX coordinating director/lead NFL on FOX director Artie Kempner (pictured left in a 2003 photograph by Rober Hale) was honored last week as a finalist for the Home Depot and NASCAR second annual Humanitarian Award. The award honors any member of the NASCAR community who has demonstrated a dedication to serving others and improving communities through significant service efforts. In honor of his son Ethan, who is autistic, Kempner became an advocate of autism awareness by founding the Autism Society of Delaware. Through his organization, Kempner played an integral role in Visa’s decision to sponsor the “Autism Speaks 400 presented by Visa” and helped in the creation of FOX Sports Supports, the network’s charitable commitment which this year raised awareness for Autism Speaks during the NASCAR on FOX season. Kempner also serves as chairperson of the annual “Drive for Autism Research” golf tournament which has raised more than $2.5 million for autism research since its inception.

Congratulations Artie!
