The 2009 F1™ schedule kicks off this weekend with the ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on Sunday, March 29 (1:00 am ET). SIRIUS XM will carry the race live in its entirety on SIRIUS channel 126 and XM channel 242. Last season’s Australian race was won by McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, the British phenom who went on to become, at 23, the youngest world champion in Formula 1™ history with an impressive 2008 season that included five victories and five more podium finishes.

In addition to live coverage, SIRIUS XM will offer multiple replays of the races. Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix will be rebroadcast Sunday, March 29 (7:00 am ET and 7:00 pm ET) and Monday, March 30 (7:00 am ET) on SIRIUS channel 126 and XM channel 242.

The FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ is the highest end of open wheeled motor racing. The 2009 season, consisting of a series of 17 races known as Grands Prix, runs from March to November on road course circuits, and in a few cases on closed city streets. The results of each race are combined to determine two annual World Championships, one for drivers and one for constructors (teams).
