Week eight of the 2009 NFL Season is here, and every network is seeing higher ratings except for CBS Sports. Is this tied into the notion, as espoused by a couple of talking heads on ESPN this week, that a lot of NFL games this year are unwatchable? And that CBS Sports seems to have been getting a lot of these games?
NBC Sports Sunday Night Football got creamed by baseball last Sunday night. But leave to to the spin machine at NBC to turn that into a positive. Maybe those folks at 30 Rock COULD put lipstick on a pig? You can read the NBC release over on Fang's Bites.
Fox Sports has the doubleheader this week. That means that Joe Buck, who is totally biased against the Yankees according to a childhood friend of mine, will miss another NFL Sunday. As usual, Thom Brennaman fills the chair for the 4:15 PM "A" game featuring the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers (note that the game time has been changed from an originally scheduled 1:00 PM ET start).
Over on CBS Sports, the Jim Nantz led "A" team is back from London, so director Mike Arnold can go back to calling the shots in Americanized-English. They also get a little bit of a travel break, getting the Miami Dolphins - New York Jets game at 1:00 PM ET)
NBC Sports is off this week.
ESPN and ESPN Deportes have the Atlanta Falcons visiting the New Orleans Saints on Monday night..
Byes this week: NBC Sports, Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins
