The 2009 NFL Broadcast Assignments for Week 15

Three weeks to go in the 2009 NFL regular season, and the NFL Network ramps up for two games this week. Meanwhile, the starting time for this Sunday's Fox Sports broadcast of the game between the Green Bay Packers (9-4) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-7) has been changed to 4:15 PM ET. The Steelers must win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Speaking of the playoffs, there are still 24 teams in the hunt for a playoff sport with three weeks to go. This is the 5th most at this point in the season since the NFL went to a 16 game schedule in 1978.

If San Diego (10-3) wins over the Cincinnati Bengals (9-4), they clinch a playoff spot. If the Denver Broncos (8-5) lose to to the hapless Oakland Raiders (4-9), San Diego wins the division. Is there any wonder that Jim Nantz and And Phil Simms are assigned to the San Diego game? But rest easy Denver fans. If you win and keep your playoff dreams alive, you will have Gus Johnson to keep you hyped up.

Over on the NFC side of the equation, a Minnesota Vikings (11-2) win over the Carolina Panthers (5-8) will clinch the NFC North title and keep New Orleans from locking up home field advantage for the playoffs for the time being. But since NBC Sports has this game on Sunday night, the only game Fox Sports that has any real import (and no blackout) is the Green Bay Packers (9-4) visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-7). So that is where Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will be, with the game going to 90% of the country.

If the Arizona Cardinals (8-5) can manage to beat the 2-11 Detroit Lions, they will win the NFC West if the San Francisco 49ers (6-7) lose to the Philadelphia Eagles (9-4). Since Detroit will be blacked out, that game is only going to 3% of the country. That means Sam Rosen and Tim Ryan get the call for that game. The 49ers-Eagles Game will be called by Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, and Tony Siragusa.

The NFL Network gets the best teams in the league this week. Tonight, they have the Indianapolis Colts (13-0) visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-6). On Saturday night, they have the Dallas Cowboys (8-5) taking on the New Orleans Saints (13-0).

Poor ESPN has the New York Giants (7-6) taking on the Washington Redskins (4-9), in a game that used to mean something, on Monday night.

Note on the Fox Sports Producer/Director Assignments: Fox Sports does not include this information in their weekly release (CBS Sports does). So the assignments shown below are based on what Fox gives us, as the only organization they say that requests is, at the beginning of the assignment. So your actuall game day experience may vary on broadcast teams with shifting announcing assignments from week to week, We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
