Athens, GA (Dec 7, 2007) - This is the profile of Kristin Huckshorn, Senior News Editor of E:60 on ESPN, as published by the ESPN Networks.

Kristin Huckshorn joined ESPN in August 2007 as a senior news editor for the launch of E:60, the network’s first multi-themed prime-time newsmagazine series. She works with the show’s producers and correspondents on developing compelling story ideas, oversees aspects of investigative and enterprise features, and serves as E:60’s script editor.

Huckshorn, a sportswriter, reporter and editor for 27 years, joined ESPN after serving as The New York Times deputy sports editor (2003 – ’07). At The Times, she was responsible for sports event and breaking news coverage including, its award-winning Athens Summer and Turin Winter Olympics coverage. She also served as the editor in charge of three major series that won or were finalists for APSE awards in 2006.

Prior to The New York Times, Huckshorn was a Washington, D.C., bureau reporter for the Knight Ridder news service, which she joined in 1990. She covered the 1992 U.S. Presidential campaign as well as civil wars in Somalia and Bosnia. In 1994, Huckshorn opened the first U.S. newspaper bureau in Vietnam since the Vietnam War, reporting news from the continent of Asia from her post in Hanoi, including the 1997 transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to China.

In 1980, Huckshorn joined the sports department of the San Jose Mercury News, becoming the paper’s first female sportswriter covering college sports, the NFL and the Olympics. At the Mercury News, Huckshorn covered Super Bowls from 1985 to 1989, including 49ers’ victories in Super Bowl XIX (1985) and XXIII (1989).

Huckshorn was graduated from Indiana University with degrees in journalism and political science. She is a founding member of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) and was honored in 2006 with the organization's Pioneer Award.
