Rob Simpson is NESN’s rink-side reporter during Boston Bruins broadcasts, delivering updates and interviews during NESN’s pre-game, intermission and post-game coverage. He is also the host of NESN's Rubber Biscuit, an up-close and personal look at the Bruins players, coaches and fans.
Simpson brings 20 years of radio and television broadcasting experience to NESN. Most recently he spent the past 4 years as the host and producer of “Maple Leaf America” a program he created for Leafs TV of Toronto, Ontario. He has also served as a play-by-play, color and sideline reporter for various regional sports networks covering hockey and soccer and spent two seasons (2001-02 and 2002-03) as the voice of the Boardwalk Bullies, an ECHL team in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The Detroit native and Central Michigan University graduate has experience in many different broadcasting roles in a variety of markets. He began his career in Ft. Myers, Florida as a reporter for WINK-TV and moved to KGMB-TV in Honolulu, Hawaii where he served in a variety of roles including sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. In 1996 Simpson moved to Boise, Idaho, where he spent 5 years calling more than 150 minor league hockey and baseball games and served as host and producer for more than 30 sports magazine shows each year.
Rob recently authored the book "Between the Lines - Not So Tall Tales from Ray Scampy Scapinello's Four Decades in the NHL", a behind the scenes look at the legendary official's career.
