What We Do and Do Not Know About The 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship (Part 2)

Athens, GA (Mar 10, 2008) - We are just six days away from "Selection Sunday" for the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, and the Google referrers on the topic continue to grow. So here is the second installment of some of the Google searches that have brought people to this site.

1. Who are the 2008 NCAA Basketball All Americans?

The United States Basketball Writers Association voting concludes today, so that All-American list will not be known for a little bit. I have a vote this year, but am torn if I am going to submit a ballot or not, for a number of reasons. The biggest is that the vote for player of the year and coach of the year is taken from a pre-determined list of finalists, with no write-ins. So if you do not submit a complete ballot, your votes are tossed out.

2. What are the 2008 ESPN NCAA Basketball Pairings?

It is not clear what this person is looking for, as ESPN only has the play-in game part of the NCAA Tournament and the NIT Tournament. Brian Powell of Awful Announcing does a good job of posting their talent pairings and assignments (especially when Erin Andrews is involved), and hopefully we will beat him to the punch when CBS Sports announces their assignments for the 1st and 2nd round. Hey, a little healthy competition is healthy, isn't it?

3. What is the 2007 Men's Tournament TV Schedule?

"Let's do the time warp again!". Sorry, but my mind is fried as I am gearing up for the 2008 schedule, and that will not be known until Sunday night. And keep your eyes on this site as wel offer our take on the broadcast schedules for men (NCAA and NIT) and women.

4. What is NBC's Broadcast Schedule for the 2008 Tournament?

Now that is a very, very good question (a very, very good question is one that has absolutely no logical, rational answer)

and one more not totally related to the NCAA basketball tournament:

5. What ball does the mens NCAA basketball play with? (sic)

Obviously this person did not take Jim Harrick, Jr's "Coaching Principles and Strategies of Basketball" class at the University of Georgia, as that was one of the bonus questions on the final exam. The choices were:

A. Football
B. Baseball
C. Basketball
D. Soccer ball

But seriously, I do not know if there is an official ball for men's NCAA basketball. Anyone out there no this one?

Part 3 to this series will be published as more search referrers come in to our logs.
