Athens, GA (Aug 4, 2008) - CBS Sports will be kicking of their 2008 SEC Football season this Saturday, with 2nd-Ranked Georgia traveling to Columbia, South Carolina for a game against USC. No, not the real USC, but the University of South Carolina. The talent and production team from the last two seasons is still in tact, as follows (photos after the jump).

Play-by-Play: Verne Lundquist
Analyst: Gary Danielson
Sideline Reporter: Tracey Wolfson
Producer: Craig Silver
Director: Steve Milton

For those interested in a good article about how teams are selected for the CBS and ESPN games, Jon Solomon of the Birmingham Times, has a good article with an obvious headline: TV Likes Teams That Win (thanks to Fang's Bites for pointing out this story). The only quibble I have with his article is where he makes the statement that "Each school must appear on Raycom Sports' 11:30 a.m. game at least once in 2008." This may not be exactly true because he unless he actually knows the terms of the soon to expire Raycom contract, he would need to explain why Georgia may not be appearing on Raycom this year if their homecoming game against Vandy (October 18) is not picked up by Raycom.
