Fans of ESPN College GameDay Don't Wait For Saturday
Athens, GA (Sept 26, 2008) - Friday is a set-up day for ESPN College GameDay. The talent arrives for production meetings and to tape inserts for air on various ESPN news shows. Nothing is live, and the atmosphere is calm and seemingly care free. But try telling it to the many University of Georgia football fans who showed up today, standing behind the barricades to watch what was happening. They could watch the live feed of the tapings on a huge Home Depot-sponsored, vocally expressing their pleasure or displeasure.
Fans who show up for ESPN GameDay can watch the show on a large corporate sponsored video screen.

Of course some fans show up with signs that are of questionable taste, or even just plain inappropriate or offensive. According to ESPN spokesperson Jennifer Zimmerman, these fans are asked to remove these signs from view. And if they don't? "Then they have to deal with security," Zimmerman said.
Some students try to cross a line with the signs they try to get on air.
