Athens, GA (Dec 17, 2008) - Memphis and South Florida will meet Saturday in the magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl. Oops, that should be the University of South Florida, per this "policy" issued by the university in their game notes:
We Are USFOf course, this did not stop the USF Bulls from misspelling Chris Spielman's name in their game notes. Of course that could be ecause ESPN has not issued any policies on spellings for on-air talent names. It is also not clear what the school will do if anyone violates the "policy."
When referring to the University please be aware of the following policy regarding usage. First references to the school and its intercollegiate athletics program should always be the University of South Florida. The only secondary reference used should be USF or Bulls. Please refrain from using South Florida, S. Florida, South Fla. or any other similar combination.

Boy, USF is a bit anal about their references, aren't they?
I put them as South Florida in my primetime listings for college football and basketball. Just to spite them, they'll remain as South Florida.
At least they are not to the point of OSU, who/that insists they be called "THE Ohio State University."
