Southeastern Conference Officially Launches Facebook and Twitter Presence
Athens, GA (Feb 17, 2009) - The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is slowly making its way into the Web 2.0 world. Using Twitter, they officially announced their new Facebook group to the world that uses Twitter. It is clear they are just getting their feet wet in the Twitter world as well. They did not include a link to the Facebook group. If you search for the "SEC Sports Fans" group on Facebook, you may have to initially drill down five or 6 pages to get the correct group, as I did. Note that it is a group, not a page as the SEC tweet called it:
The good news is that it looks like these social media entries are being managed by the SEC office itself, and is not outsourced to anybody. Charles Bloom, SEC Associate Commissioner for Media Relations, is listed as the owner of the group.
Hopefully the SEC staff will get itself fully immersed in how to use these tools well and be a valuable resource for SEC fans, as well as others.
