Athens, GA (Mar 11, 2009) - Thanks to Jim Liney of Newburgh, New York, I was able to get a ticket at face value for tonight's Big East Tournament session at Madison Square Garden. First up is West Virginia vs. Notre Dame, then my beloved Orangemen from Syracuse take on Seton Hall.
So why did I pay for a ticket to see the games, the first time I have paid to see a basketball game in 27+ years? The practical reason is that I am in Manhattan on an unexpected business trip, so it was too late to request a press credential (but I did try, and thanks to Chuck Sullivan of the Big East media relations staff for trying to see if he could accommodate the request).
The other reasons? I have never been to a Big East Tournament game, and more importantly, I have never been inside Madison Square Garden. How could I pass up the chance to see a couple of good games in the true mecca of college basketball?
And I tell you what, even though I am sitting in the blues, I have a fantastic view. This is cool beyond words on so many levels, and is one more thing to check of the bucket list!
