I will admit up front that I am not much of a NASCAR Fan. I just do not get any enjoyment or thrill of watching cars go around and around, punctuated with yellow flags to make me want to change the channel.

OK that sounds like a lot of blarney. And thanks to The Daly Planet (TDP), I can come out with the real reason for my distaste for NASCAR this year. I just could not stomach the site of "Digger" on Fox Sports or understand what value his inclusion possibly added to Fox Sports coverage of NASCAR this year. So TNT has sent out a promotional video, as reported by Sports Business Daily and highlighted by TDP, sealing Digger beneath a manhole.



Digger was silly, inane, bothering and maybe he just took a little too much testosterone out of race coverage on Fox Sports this year. Yes, Digger made me want to vomit and instantly change the channel. In the back of my mind, I secretly hoped that Digger Phelps might step up and file a restraining order against the use of his name by Fox.

So thank you TNT for this little tweak at your NASCAR competitors/compatriots. But don't think for a second that it will make me want to watch the races on TNT anytime soon. Unless someone else buries their never ending pop-in promos over shows and live events. That is just as bad, if not more nauseating, as shown in this Saturday Night Live clip:
