Now this may be an award ceremony that will fade away if printed college sports media guides do indeed get banned. But it has not happened yet, so here are 2008-09 CoSIDA Publications Contest Winners, announced last month in San Antonio, TX. Note that UCLA, which is one of the major schools pushing the ban on media guides, was one of the big winners, with 17 awards.

My pick for least heard of honoree? The Collegiate Water Polo Association!


Who should have been recognized? Mississippi State, for putting out a concise, media focused (i.e. no recruiting fluff) football guide supplement that was of more use to the media then any of the other bells and whistles attached to the recruiting puff pieces.
