U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS AND U.S. SNOWBOARD CROSS WORLD CUP ON NBC SPORTS THIS WEEKEND
Nordic and Freestyle Skiing from Steamboat Springs, Colo. and Snowboard Cross From Telluride, Colo.
NEW YORK - Dec. 22, 2009- NBC Sports presents 90 minutes of taped coverage this weekend of the U.S. Olympic Trials for freestyle skiing and nordic combined from Steamboat Springs, Colo., with competitors vying for a spot at the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. Coverage on NBC Sports begins Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET. World Champions Todd Lodwick, of Steamboat Springs and former Steamboat resident Bill Demong take on the country’s best in the nordic combined, which combines cross country skiing and ski jumping.
The freestyle trials encompassed both moguls and aerials. Among those in the moguls competition are World Cup champion Hannah Kearney, Olympic silver medalist Shannon Bahrke and World Champion Patrick Deneen. World Champion Ryan St. Onge, World Cup winner and Olympian Jeret “Speedy” Peterson and World Cup winner Emily Cook lead the way in the aerials competition.
On Sunday, NBC Sports will present an hour of taped coverage of the U.S. Snowboard Cross World Cup from Telluride, Colo. Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott and Two-time World/ World Cup Champion Lindsey Jacobellis will compete against the best in snowboard cross in hopes to gain a spot on the U.S. Team in Vancouver. Coverage on NBC Sports begins on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
