Tragedy struck at the 2010 Vancouver Games today as Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died following a crash in training at the Whistler Sliding Centre. CTV decided to air this video of the crash that killed the athlete. My gut reaction when I heard that they aired it is that they should not have aired it. However, after watching it, my thoughts changed because it is not gruesome or graphic. In fact, it is pretty straight forward vanilla. Do you think CTV was right in airing the video? A difficult choice, because people want to know about it & it brings to light a very serious issue for that track.
BUT, it was the death of another human being.
