Cal Ripken, Jr Truly Was an All-Star and a Hero

Athens, GA (Dec 14, 2007) - Eye on Sports Media does not want to get into the total media overkill on the just released Mitchell Report on steroid use in baseball. We are just tuning it out here because it really is a non-story as there are no real surprises. But Mike Tingle (pictured left), who is working his last day on-air at Athens radio station 960 the Ref, made a great observation: Cal Ripken, Jr is not on the list.

Tingle expressed surprise not because he thought Ripken would be a given, but because Ripken accomplished his Ironman streak without the use of performance enhancing steroids. Because these drugs can help you recover from injuries faster and play through pain, it is incredible that Ripken did what he did without having to resort to any artificial enhancers. That is why Ripken is a true role model for younger people and why he should truly be a sports hero to everyone.

Eye on Sports Media would like to wish Mike Tingle the best as he leaves 960 the Ref for new adventures in Charlottesville, Virginia and ACC Country.
