Ron Paul for...Oops, I Mean Tom Hammond for NFL Network Play By Play

Athens, GA (Dec 14, 2007) - We are approaching the Christmas Season, but NFL fans who can actually get the NFL Network got an early Christmas present last night. Bryant Gumbel was sick, so Tom Hammond stepped in to do play-by-play for the Thursday night game.

For those who do not think that an announcer can make the difference in a game broadcast, just watch a tape of a Bryant Gumbel called game, and then a tape of last night's game. It was night and day. Tom (only referring to him by first name because of the many years Eye on Sports Media has worked directly with him) actually made the game watchable, even though it was not an exciting game to watch. He knew what he was talking about, he knew how to make the calls, and he had the voice of authority.

Maybe he will get more opportunities to fill in, maybe on a permanent basis, and everybody will win. Well, except for the NFL Network still trying to get on basic cable.
