Athens, GA (Jan 30, 2008) - There is nothing worse than a bad case of the flu setting in right after getting back from Florida. But it has, and I am just starting to come out of it (hopefully). So you will have to forgive me if I cannot shed a tear for the 3,000+ horde of media professionals in Glendale for Super Party 42 (sorry the head hurts two much to do Roman Numerals right now). Once I can figure out why so much media is needed for one game, then I might truly understand the raised eyebrows at their "police escorts" to the media center. Do not worry, the escort is not to protect the media from getting hurt, it is to keep the media from causing traffic back-ups and accidents trying to drive after a night of "hard-edged reporting"on the mean streets of Arizona.

And of course there was the earlier hype about Tom Brady wearing a boot last week. Was he hurt? Would he play? Forget all of that, there was a new ad in my browser window this afternoon:


















Maybe I will just let the flu take its lickin', it makes being cynical all that much easier to take. Now where did I put that Goody's Powder...then I can be ready for the news flash when Brady has a hangnail or Belichick cracks a smile
