Watching Wrestling Was A Strange Experience

Athens, GA (Aug 19, 2008) - Starting the morning watching the 55 Kilo Gold Medal Wrestling Match this morning was interesting to say the least. Henry Cejudo won the first gold medal in this weight class for the United States since 1904. Pretty cool. Finding out that Cejudo is the son of illegal immigrants? I have mixed feelings on this. No, not because he is the son of illegal immigrants per se. On one hand, I am happy that politics are "officially" not part of the Olympics (insert sarcastic smile here) and that there were no protests or rednecks screaming that it is not right. On the other hand, I am sorry that Matt Devlin and Rulon Gardner did not take the time to explain how Cejudo was able to qualify for the team. Yes, it was heartwarming and gut-wrenching to hear his story and viewers could not help but share in his tears of joy. Not explaining that he was able to qualify for the team because he was born in the United States was a failure on the part of Devlin and Gardner. Why? Because sure as the sun will rise in the morning, some ignorant muck out there will incorrectly scream "foul".

And one last question: Why are the referees wearing blazers, ties and penny loafers?
