The SEC office with its television partners continues to work on the selections for October 18. It is possible that these selections may not occur until Wednesday morning, Oct. 8. The games that are being held for selection are Ole Miss (3-3, 1-2 SEC) at Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC), Vanderbilt (5-0, 3-0 SEC) at Georgia (4-1, 1-1 SEC) and LSU (4-0, 2-0 SEC) at South Carolina (4-2, 1-2 SEC). The games are being selected by CBS Sports, ESPN/ESPN2 and Raycom Sports.
If the CBS Sports schedule leaked this summer and published on Southern Saturday (and on this site) holds true, CBS already has LSU at South Carolina locked in. If they cannot change their selection, it means the conundrum is between ESPN/ESPN2 and Raycom Sports. Raycom's only shot at a Georgia home game is the game with Vanderbilt.
Update (11:30 am et): CBS Sports has just announced that they have indeed changed their selection for October 18, and will be broadcasting the Ole Miss at Alabama game at 3:30 pm et. We will update the other two games as information becomes available.
Update 2 (11:52 am et): This update comes from GeorgiaDogs.com, as the SEC has not yet updated their information:
A decision on the kickoff time for the Saturday, Oct. 18, Georgia-Vanderbilt game in Athens has been delayed until Sunday, Oct. 12, according to an announcement by the Southeastern Conference.
CBS has selected the Alabama-Ole Miss game for its 3:30 p.m. game on Oct. 18. CBS has allowed ESPN to use one of CBS’s three six-day selection options for the Oct. 18 game. The games being held in the six day selection process for ESPN and Raycom are Vanderbilt at Georgia and LSU at South Carolina. ESPN will select one of these two games for an 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff with the other game being televised by Raycom at 12:30 p.m.
