Athens, GA (Dec 18, 2008) - Could it be the day has arrived when a college football bowl game has finally jumped the shark? It looks like that could be the case with the Las Vegas Bowl, being played Saturday evening. Not only can walk-up fans get unreserved seats for $15 (although the official bowl web site says the game is sold out), they can hear David Hasselhoff sing the national anthem!
If the snow in Vegas this week makes the bowl officials this loopy, maybe someone will finally say there are just too many bowl games!
Maybe they are hoping to draw the Sponge Bob Square Pants The Movie fans to the stadium. Perhaps the only way they'll actually sell out is tap into this underexploited Nick Jr./Sports fan audience.
You'll know this was the scheme if they have Hasselhoff come into the stadium shirtless with Sponge Bob and Patrick riding on his shoulders.
