Athens, GA (Jan 27, 2009) - A lot of times we know about birthdays and milestones of prominent sports media personalities. For example, friend of Eye on Sports Media Daryn Kagan celebrated her birthday a few days ago. Other times, events slip under the radar. In November, CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell took a two week vacation, and had a contest winning guest blogger fill in. But did any of us realize he was actually getting married during that time? (Mozaltov to Darren and Cortney!)

So today there is a birthday being celebrated by a person that many of you might not know about, but he does a lot of work behind the scenes to support sports reporters, particularly basketball reporters at this time of year. That would be Ted Gangi, former CBS Sports researcher and assistant sports editor of the Dallas Morning News web site. Ted spends a lot of time working with the membership of the United States Basketball Writers Association, maintaining the USBWA website and providing members with important information. Ted also runs collegepressbox.com, a virtual media site for accredited members of the sports media.
