Nationwide Tour Behind the Scenes: Setting the Pins

Bogart, GA (Apr 16, 2009) - While the players are teeing off their morning rounds, Nationwide Tour Rules officials are out on the course, setting the locations for the next round pin placements. It is one of the jobs you may not see or think about, but is a necessary function for the tournament. Here are some photos from Nationwide Tour Rules Official Michael Combs doing his work early this morning.

Pacing the Hole: Nationwide Tour Rules Official Michael Combs
paces the location of the second round hole location on the
16th hole. These measurements will be used on the pin sheets
used by the players and caddies.

Painting without a Net: Nationwide Tour Rules Official Michael Combs
uses spraypaint to mark the 16th hole pin location for the
second round of the Athens Regional Foundation
Classic. Players and caddies will not the location
during first round play to plot their strategies for the next round.


Setting the Cup: Steven Ranew, Assistant Superintendent at
Jennings Mill Country Club, places the cup for the
pin on the 16th hole for first round play at the Nationwide
Tour's Athens Regional Foundation Classic.

Sizing Up The Hole: An unidentified caddy waits
on the 17th tee for the pin location to be cut and
set so he can ready for his afternoon round.


Setting the Tee Marker: Nationwide Tour Rules Official Michael Combs
sets the tee markers for the 1st round of the Nationwide
Tour's Athens Regional Foundation Classic.
