Sports Media Journal Scores A Winning Sports Media Writer

There was another old-line newspaper bloodletting last week. The Baltimore Sun laid of 61 people, including long-time assistant sports editor and sports media writer Ray Frager (pictured left).

In his farewell column, Frager wrote

I hope to pop up soon with a new sports media blog and would love to continue wasting your time.

I thought to myself "how interesting" that a downsized mainstream media writer would want to continue on with his own blog writeing. I toyed with the idea of asking Ray if he would want to contribute to this site. But then I thought "why would he want to do that?"

Well I should have followed my first instinct and asked Ray of he wanted to do that. I didn't, and Keith Thibault of the Sports Media Journal did. As a result, fans of Ray can read his occasional posts over on Sports Media Journal.

For those of you not familiar with that site, Keith is not a person who feels he has to post a lot of times every single day. Instead, you will find he comes up with some great written and downloadable podcast interviews, as well as his experiences in other areas such as trying his hand at being a beat writer covering a minor league baseball team for a season.

All I can say is "Well done Keith!", and to wish Ray all the best as he works through what to do next in his career.
