Perhaps Redskins' Henson Should Be Twutered By Trent Shelton

Rober Henson Twitter shot

Who the hell is Robert Henson??? Loud mouth jerk who was damn near spit
on and had things thrown at him? For no reason!!

There is one sports blogger by the name of Ken Fang who has a site that everyone should add to their RSS feed: Fang's Bites. There is a very simple reason. Almost without fail he will put up a daily links post of what people around the ether are writing about sports media. And it never fails that I will find a gem in his list that did not come up on my radar for one reason or another.

Today was such a day. Through Ken I was able to catch up on Newsday's Neil Best offering the following short, but to the point, commentary on Washington Redskin Robert Henson's Twitter judgement:

...Twitter is a dangerous thing for athletes without a sense of proportion or perspective.

Wow.

So what did Henson do? He just bit the proverbial hand that feeds him, with the following Tweets to and about Washington Redskins fans, some of who were undoubtedly one of his 1, 229 Twitter followers:

"All you fake half hearted Skins fan can . . . I won't go there, but I dislike you very strongly, don't come to Fed Ex to boo dim wits!!"

"No I didn't play but I still made more than you in a year and you'd [gladly] switch spots with me in a second. I was talking to the fans [who] said the crazy stuff, I'm use [to heckling] but I've never been booed in my own stadium. Again that was for the half hearted but if everyone wants to jump in come on. The question is who are you to say you know what's best for the team and you work 9 to 5 at Mcdonalds [sic].

But we are all human and make mistakes in the heat of the moment. But hopefully we can stop ourselves before digging ourselves into a deeper hole.

It appears that Henson did not, and perhaps he should have taken some Twitter twutoring from teammate Trent Shelton, who offered this sage advice in a recent interview with Eye on Sports Media:

"If it is something I have to think about before I post, I just don't post it."

But alas, it looks like Henson did not and his tweets went on.

Here is a selection of his Tweets before he decided to shut down his Twitter account, including an exchange with 710 ESPN (Seattle) producer Liz Matthews:
